If i wanted to dye my hair?

since i got black hair and i want to get some blue or purple streaks in it how will i do this?

also i just want to try it out - mayb a 8washs one.

but i dont think i can do it since my hair colour is darker than that.

i heard of bleaching, but i dont know what it means, and even so - the colour would wash off and then id be left with the colour of bleach right?

pls help - and im sure i DONT want it permanent...

Well yes you would have to use HAIR bleach on your head if you wanted to get highlights. Hair bleach basically enters the hair and lightens the pigment in them. Though since your hair is black, it'll most likely come up orange in some places, which means that you would have to use a toner to make it a blond colour.

I'd say to gets some semi permanent dye, since it washes out. I'd also recommend getting a friend to help you pull the hairs that you want the streaks on and putting the bleach on them. Then wrap each in a piece of tin foil so it wont touch the other hairs. Leave it in for the recommended amount of time (but try and not go pass 2 hours). It'd be best to conditioner afterwards since bleach does some damage to hair.

Put some conditioner on the hair that ISN'T getting the dye on it. This help prevent dye from getting on the hairs you don't want because then you can merely swipe it off and keep on going. Apply the dye on, leave it for the recommended time, wash, and viola. Highlights.

Bleaching means kinda works like bleaching clothing. You bleach the strand of hair that you want to dye. After you bleach it, your strand of hair will be a lot lighter, then you can dye that strand and the color will show well.

If you want a temporary "for fun" dye, go to one of those teenager stores like Hot Topic.

ok yes since ur hair is black u would have to bleach ur hair for the other colors to take and yes they would just wash out cuz i have yet to hear of exotic colors such as blue or pink to to be permanent.so yes you would have to repeated dye ur hair those colors. but i dont want to pop ur bubble. if u find a way to solve this problem please inform me!!!

If you don't want it permanent, then bleaching would not be the way to go. Bleaching isn't like dye, where you just wash it out, it basically destroys the color pigment in your hair where ever you bleached it. Too much bleaching can cause your hair to fall out, even, but that's pretty drastic. There's probably another way to make your hair lighter but I'm not sure...

if its your first time dying your hair, and your not sure! i suggest getting 2 tracks of hair extensions and you can always just take them out without damaging your hair! im a cosmetologist and have 4 daughters who i have done extensions on, and they love them! i would never tell my kids to do something permanent if they werent sure! and anyways if you bleach and dye a funky color most likely its going to wash out in a week or two and end up an ugly bleached color! thats my experience!
