I want to dye my hair purple and blue.....?

I want to dye my hair purple and blue, and maybe even black. My mom has a problem with me dying all of my hair, so I'm only gonna do the tips of my hair. My question is: What color will my hair turn out if its red? My tips are an aurburnish red, so if I go over it with purple, or blue, will it even show? I can't bleach my hair to make it lighter....

Your tips? How about you do streaks? Tips are pretty seventh grade.

Anyway, it should come out fine, only the blue will be a bit purplish (mixing with the red), and it won't last very long if you don't bleach, and won't be bright or anything. Plus, it will probably look really weird. There's a great highlighting kit out there that bleaches your hair as it dyes, and conditions really well, and it comes in a really pretty purplish color. You could try that instead if my advice has scared you (and it should, cause I know what I'm talking about)...and, er. I hope this helps.

If your hair has a reddish color on it, then the purple and blue will not come out as vibrant as you would want it.

Well, first you need to check school/work doesn't have a problem because if they do then they can just make you chop the coloured bits off (eek!) that happened to my friend. you should dye the bottoms blonde first then do it, but another friend did that and it looked mouldy. black would probably be the best and you might not have to bleach it. you could just get the bottoms done blonde and use wash out colours on it- you could change it whenever you wanted!

You will not get the full effects of blue and purple without bleach... .and take it from me.. its NOT worth it!!

i bleached my hair to do blue. the blue lasted about 4 days before i had to re-do it (it turned a light green/teal)... and about 2 weeks after that... my hair started falling out from the bleaching. about a week after that, i cut all my hair off, leaving about an inch.

it took 19months for my hair to get back to the length it was before i bleached it.
