If a black person has blue contacts in..does that make her ashamed of being black? Does eye color have anything with race? I've seen blue and green eyed black people with that eye color naturally..are they betraying their race? Does a insignificant thing like eye and hair color have any thing to do with a persons moral character?
Like if you saw a black person with blue or green eyes with blonde or any color hair thats not black and they were pulling it off nicely what would you think?

I think it's ridiculous to say that a Black person with colored contacts is ashamed of thier race. Green eyes happen to run on my mothers side of the family, so to me, it's perfectly normal to see Blacks with light eyes and hair. Actually, in many areas it's quite common. I have to add that people who've never seen this must live where there are few Blacks. We truly come in all colors.

I associate bleached Blond haired Black people with being ghetto. With contacts added....that makes it worse. Most Black people who try this look don't pull it off well at all and end up looking stupid.
When someone has hair and eyes like that there is an increased chance that this person MIGHT be a self hater but not necessarily in all cases.

It looks unnatural to me, I never seen a Black person look right with them.Why can't we just accept our hair, skin, and eyes as they are instead of believing that white traits such as straight hair, blonde hair, blue eyes, and light skin are better than out African features. Ugh, blue eyes are so overrated to me...I'm fine with my bright BROWN eyes that god gave me.

I think blue eyes look gorgeous on dark skinned people. I don't know about blonde hair. Maybe blonde or light streaks in dark hair would be a better option, to avoid terrible regrowth and hair damage.

Some blacks do have natural blue and green eyes. And others have sandy blond hair (this depends on their color). No it does not make them ashame. They want to try something new. White people wear different color contacts too and so do many other races.

I know what you mean. I'm so tired of hearing darker skinned and featured latinos and blacks complaining about lighter skinned latins and blacks being chosen over them and how they don't "appreciate their indigenous/african" roots and all that bologna.
I knew a kid in high school who was Puerto Rican/Jamaican who had curly blonde hair (naturally) and green eyes with yellow/caramel skin. At a sales auction, I seen a Mexican guy with natural red hair and tanned skin. I myself, being mixed, have light skin, brown hair and hazel eyes. Its nothing to be ashamed of.
If a black woman wants to put weaves in her hair, relax it, dye it blonde/red/brown, that's her perogative. It doesn't make her want to be "white". Most of them are still proud of their african heritage, even more so. Same thing with many light skinned and caucasian hispanics in general. People need to get over the whole anger towards the "eurocentric" society and hating on people with light skin and features because that's just as racist as if it were to be against someone with darker skin and black hair/eyes.

I think you just need to get rid of the contacts all together and accept your eyes the way they are. Be proud of yourself, don't cover them up. Glorify them.

a black person having blue contacts doesn't necessarily mean that they have self esteem issues. you really have to take it on a person by person basis. personally i think that there are definitely a lot of black people out there who are trying too hard to be something other than what they are. i'm not a fan of black people dying their hair or getting weave so that they can have long blond hair. i think people should be more comfortable with who they are and what they have. making unneccessary changes to yourself whether they're permanent or not doesn't make sense to me. but that doesn't just apply to black people, it applies to all people of all races, ethnicities, and cultural backgrounds. i don't think people should continue to allow mainstream society and media portrayals decide how they should feel about themselves. but a lot of people do it subconsciously.
as for the people that have that eye color naturally there's nothing wrong with that. they can't control that so i don't see something like that as them betraying their race.

As another girl mentioned, it just looks unnatural and kind of creepy to see a black person with blonde hair and blue eyes. It would be the same thing if I saw an Asian girl with blonde hair---it would look like they're trying to assimilate to what America's standard of beauty is which is blonde hair and blue eyes.

Yes, I do think they're betraying ethnic heritage. Blue and green eyes that are natural, that is fine. But color contacts or blonde/red hair dye for any ethnic group other than Caucasian is not natural features and it does betray their race. Whether or not they're trying to look Caucasian, they're immulating Caucasian features. But I could care less about race so it doesn't matter to me.

Judging on outer appearance is what causes the discrimination/trouble in the first place. Moral character should be determined by behavior not looks.
As for people wearing contacts, I think it comes down to individuality. A person represents his or herself, rather than an entire race. Everyone has their own idea of what is attractive.
